Ellie Coggins is a multimedia storyteller based in Kansas City, Mo.
“We are, as a species, addicted to story,” Jonathan Gottschall wrote. It’s one of her favorite quotes and a truth she lives by that keeps her motivated as a storyteller.
Ellie’s passion for stories started as a child with a love of reading fictional books and continued into undergrad as she chose to study English literature at the University of Cincinnati. When she didn’t have her face buried in a Shakespeare play or poetry anthology, Ellie was usually behind the lens of her Nikon D7100, freelancing everything from engagements to senior photos.
Now that she has completed her master’s degree at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in magazine, newspaper, and online journalism, she hopes to continue to tell stories in any way she can. Although Ellie started her graduate program wanting to become a writer, she left with a passion for multimedia stories and the way that they engage an audience.
When Ellie isn’t pursuing a story, you can usually find her reading a novel, testing out a new vegetarian recipe, watching The Office, or dreaming of her next big travel adventure.
